7 Fall Must Haves — My Picks
We're well into fall, have you embraced it yet or are you still hoping that the sun will pop out just one more time? Whichever side you’re on (maybe undecided) I’m sure you have some staple items you can't wait to whip out as soon as you come to terms with parting ways with that summertime sunshine. So take a peek in my home and check out My Picks for Fall Must-Haves. From home goods, clothing, and snacks—I’m excited to share with you some of the things that are bringing me comfort and brightening up my crisp fall days.
I'm a big fan of essential oils, I have an assortment of roll-on ones but have been really wanting a diffuser for my house. There's so many things you can do with the oils—add them to your beauty regimen, put some in your laundry, or just use them to relax and unwind with a mixture of oils that can create whatever mood you want to set for your home. I was listening to a podcast the other day and they happened to be interviewing a woman who took the dive into creating a holistic business with her brother, centered around providing affordable quality products without any fillers or synthetic chemicals. Vitruvi's oils are non-GMO, have no dilluting oils, and the packaging is beautifully simple (not to mention appealing to the scientist in me with the nod to the periodic table). I got "The Fall Bundle" with the Bergamot (did I mention how Earl Gray tea is my favorite?), Spruce, Frankinscence, and Geranium. They have a few options for diffusers and so many different oils and oil blends; they’re even working on releasing a line of customizable skincare. Definitely worth checking out all of Vitruvi's collection.
I use all of the Mrs. Meyer’s products, especially since they’re plant-based and don’t have any of the colors or harmful chemicals that other cleaning products can contain. I have everything from hand soaps and dish soaps to cleaning spray, and even toilet bowl cleaner. So when I saw that they brought out some limited edition fall-themed scents, I thought I’d give them a try. I usually like a fresher scent, nothing too rich, so I decided to go for the “Mum” scent (they also have Pumpkin—if that's something you want your counters and dishes to smell like—and Apple Cider scents). The Mum scent is delicately fragrant. It might actually be my favorite of all their scents, I just wish this were a year-round one! Grab your fall themed Mrs. Meyers collection if you feel like mixing things up.
I’ve been on the hunt for a cute corduroy mini overall dress, who else is in on this trend with me? I’ve seen a bunch of different ones in every earthy color your autumn-loving heart could ask for, and I finally found this adorable one at forever21. It’s a soft shade of pink, the material feels nice, and the straps are adjustable (which is a big must for me because I’m short and things don’t always fit the way they’re supposed to).
Okay, I’ve seriously been needing to upgrade my slippers, the ones I have are thoroughly worn through. So when I saw these, I had to pick them up. The first morning that I stepped onto the cold tile in my bathroom, I happily pulled them out from the box where I keep all my slippers, does that make me a granny? I don’t wear shoes in the house and have all wood/tile floors, so cold floors are an issue. But these babies keep my feet from freezing off and I think the white stitching on the dark gray felt is really cute. Mine are from Kooba, but I found these Dearfoams Felt X-Stitch Clog Slippers that look pretty identical to me.
This pullover from Patagonia is so soft and warm. The white color looks so pretty, contrasted against all the colors of fall. Patagonia is one of my hands-down favorite outdoors retailers. They’re an environmentally conscious company, and you can definitely count on the quality, a reason this is a staple for me this fall. I was a little nervous about buying a white fluffy sweatshirt because I was sure I’d get something on it, but so-far-so good!
Don’t you just love when it starts getting chilly out and you get to slip on a pair of thick socks to lounge around in at home (or pair with your Birk’s, no shame!). These sock are extremely comfy, they’re a wool/cotton blend but aren’t itchy at all and are thick without being too restricting. I wish I could remember what brand they are, but I’ve already thrown away the packaging and there isn’t a label on any of them! If I ever come across these guys again, I’ll be sure to update!
I’ll be honest, when I need my tea fix, the first thing I always reach for is my Earl Grey. But I'm loving this Tazo chai vanilla caramel tea. It’s a black tea with subtle vanilla caramel and spiced flavors that blend well together and aren’t too overpowering. I’m also a sucker for pretty and simple packaging, so this box caught my eye. Plus I enjoy reading the cute story-like descriptions Tazo puts on the side of their boxes. Sipping on some as we speak!
Blake and I carved our pumpkins last weekend, which meant gutting out all the goods inside and sorting out the seeds. Instead of throwing all that out, why not season and roast them? If you roast the seeds enough, you can pop the whole thing in your mouth and even eat the shell, making them an easy snack. As a bonus, they’re actually really good for you, they have a ton of nutrients and antioxidants. So think about tossing them on a pan, adding some oil & seasoning and roasting them in your oven! And if this isn’t enough pumpkin goodness for you, you’ve got to try this Pumpkin Bread Recipe.
