2019 Bikini Haul — My Picks
I’m not quite sure why, but something in me just feels the need to browse swimsuits whenever I see them…I live in the PNW, swimsuit season is pretty much two weeks—and by that I mean, a day or two in April, another couple days in May, and then maybe a few solid days in row from June through August, and if you’re lucky those days will happen to fall on the weekend. I’ve amassed a pretty extensive collection that I continue to add to year after year. So if you’re in a sunnier place, or are planning an upcoming vaca, I’ve rounded up some of this year’s additions. Shop away!
Pastel Striped Scoop Top
I tend to kind of just buy mix-matched tops and bottoms. I’m pickier when it comes to bottoms so I usually just buy a couple neutral colored bottoms and then about 500 tops. Target literally has the biggest selection for really affordable prices, but I always have to shop early otherwise it can be hard to find sizes. I love this sportier style that they have a lot of different varieties of this year. This pastel striped top caught my eye because of the fun colors, it sort of reminds me of some kind of sherbet or cotton candy.
Ruffled White Cheeky Bottoms
So this top is older, I can’t really remember where I got it, but I wanted to show these ruffled white bottoms. These are my go-to bottoms this year. I’ve actually kind of been preferring high-waisted bottoms lately but I feel like these ones are so flattering. First off, I love the white because it pretty much instantly makes you look tanner. The ruffles add texture and have the added bonus of not squishing your butt or cutting into your skin at the hips. I got the black pair of these years ago and have always loved them, so I had to get the white ones when I saw them.
Olive & Floral High-Waisted Set
Wow I love the cute floral print on these high-waisted bottoms. The olive scoop neck top came with the bottoms as a set. I usually like a little cheekier bottoms, but these were too cute to pass up. The high-waisted bottoms hit at just the right section of my waist and are so comfy. Who else is glad these came back in style this year?
Cut-Out One Piece
Another one of the most flattering styles this year is the cut-out one piece. It might just be in my head, but they kind of give the illusion of having abs haha. It seems like one pieces have gotten a lot of shade in the past but they’ve really come a long way, and while the tan lines might be wack, I think they can be cuter than some of the typical triangle bikini options. These two are pretty similar in shape/cut and both have padded cups—another thing I wasn’t too sold on until I tried these on—but the black has a clasp in the back, and the pink polka dot has a lace up back.
I really feel like no matter how cute a swim suit is, if you don’t feel comfortable and confident in it, you’re going to dread wearing it. Invest in a couple cute swimsuits you really like and mix-and-match to create different sets. And when you find one that you actually love wearing, get it early, because if you wait till the weekend before that lake trip or your beach vacation, you’ll probably end up settling with some random piece that only sort of fits right.
Hope you’re enjoying a sunny summer somewhere!
