The Year was 2020.... Face Mask Edition
Holy smokes, what a crazy year it’s been. I can’t believe we’ve already made it past summer. Who else has been waiting for everything to blow over and go back to normal, so much so that you didn’t even realize the past 6 months go by?? I’ve really been neglecting the blog this year and have been wanting so much to get back to creating for you guys! So what more of a fitting post than addressing the new way of life that a lot of us have been dealing with? By that I mean…MASKS.
Over here, we’re required to wear a face covering in public and I think one of the things that has made this a little easier is at least having masks that are comfortable and cute (if you can call a mask cute). Because if I’m going to need one for work every day, why not feel a little better about them?
Lucky for me, my aunt has been pumping these out since the end of April and has given me the opportunity to actually start an Etsy shop for us! I’ve seriously always wanted to start a shop but could never pull the trigger. It’s been really great getting to provide these for our community and being able to contribute to making the necessity of mask-wearing a little bit more fun for people with the patterns we find.
(P.S. anyone else’s grow-out as bad as mine before salons opened back up? 🙈Cool, cool we’ve gotten that under control now.)
At the start, one of the most difficult things was trying to keep up with the demand and being able to find fabrics to use! All of our local fabric shops were wiped out and extra safety measures made the lines a little insane.
Now that we’ve gotten into the groove of things, we’ve been able to launch a variety of collections (and are always looking for new patterns!) and have been able to make some tweaks based on feedback from our amazing customers.
All of our masks are pleated with double-layer 100% cotton which makes them super comfy and breathable (as much as a protective mask can be, of course the whole point is to reduce the spread of particles from your breath so they can get a little steamy if you’re doing a lot of talking). The pleats are really great in letting you customize your fit—you can leave them more folded if you have a smaller face or expand them if you want more coverage.
They also have a thin nose wire, which helps to shape them to your face without leaving marks/dents from being too stiff. The elastic ear bands are lightweight and allow some flexibility in sizing, they don’t hurt or bruise the back of your ears after wearing all day.
We try to pick a variety of patterns and a lot of them are unisex (in our opinion, if you like it, wear whatever you want!) and if you need a different size, we’re always happy to accommodate!

Blake and I have some other things in the works now with the launch of Roses x Wildflowers, so I will definitely keep you all posted on that! I’m excited to be writing and creating more and am seriously grateful for those of you who have stuck around with me!
